GardenHands.com - Series of sculpted garden furniture and appointments for reproduction

Cathedral Project, ongoing - Artist-initiated multi-year project in the research and development stage. A monumental architectonic sculpture to be located in Turners Falls, MA that will specifically draw upon the historical and contemporary context of its site and broadly express aspects of the human condition.


SELECTED PUBLIC AND CORPORATE COMMISSIONS

Fountain restoration, Stevens-Coolidge Place, North Andover, Massachusetts, 2000 - Fountain on a property of the Trustees of Reservations.

Angel of Industry, Arnot Ogden Medical Center, Elmira, New York, 1999 - 2000 - Awarded commission for installation sited in a courtyard healing garden. A complex "stage set" of images and forms, real and imagined, based on the industrial heritage of Elmira and honoring the dignity and spirituality of human industry.

The Cathedral of St. John the Divine, New York, New York, 1990 - 1992 - Provided services as architect, designer, and carver for Cathedral Stoneworks. Responsibilities included project management, field work, traditional drafting and setting out practices, Cad/Cam design, traditional sculpture studio practices, stone carving and cut stone masonry as applied to architecture.

U.S. Custom House, New York, New York, 1992 - Restoration and cleaning of monumental statuary by Daniel Chester French. The customhouse, also designed by Cass Gilbert, is now the new site of the Museum of the American Indian, part of the Smithsonian Institute.

Greek Orthodox Church of St. Barbara, Santa Barbara, California, 1992 - Designs for the ornamentation of the holy appointments of the church including the Bishop's Throne, Pulpit, and Baptismal Font.

Huffington Library, Culver, Indiana, 1991 - 1992 - Twenty-four 4 by 4-foot panels on the library facade depicting evolution from the origins of the cosmos to man in space.

The Jewish Museum, New York, New York, 1990 - 1991 - Provided design, drafting, and technical assistance in the production of the stone facade of the new wing to the museum, a landmark building designed by Cass Gilbert in Gothic style. Managed and oversaw the implementation of the entire anchoring system. Designed and carved the largest carvings of the project, two gargoyle figures at the fourth story level.


SELECTED PRIVATE COMMISSIONS

Life's Little Mysteries, Dover, Massachusetts, 2002-2003 - A whimsical two thousand pound, six foot in diameter birdbath, adorned with elephants and other carvings around a theme of nature, family, and the passage of time.

Noah's Requiem, Hilton Head, South Carolina, 2001 - 2002 - A modern retelling of the story of Noah, in our post September 11th world, with a solitary figure at the helm sounding out the requiem on his accordion while the odd company of lost creatures try to make sense of a new world.

Downtown Atlantis, Lloyd Harbor, New York, 1997 - 1998 - A fountain installation representing an imagined Atlantis based on historic and contemporary urban and industrial landscapes. Comprising over 150 individual blocks of stone with a total weight of approximately ten tons and measuring 10 by 20 by 3 feet.

The Furies, Lloyd Harbor, New York, 1997 - Large-scale sculpture depicting the three furies from Greco-Roman mythologies as they might be found today.

Aeneid Fountain, Cambridge, Massachusetts, 1996 - Fountain based on Virgil's Aeneid. "Entablature" frieze devised as stage sets illustrating scenes from the Aeneid.

Maya Redux, Amherst, Massachusetts, 1995 - 1996 - Based on Mayan art and architecture. Entire work is submerged as a fish habitat, using water as the symbolic threshold to the underworld, according to Mayan beliefs.

The Furies, Lloyd Harbor, New York, 1997 - Large-scale sculpture depicting the three furies from Greco-Roman mythologies as they might be found today.
